Am 13. Dezember 2004 jährt sich zum 800. Mal der Todestag von Moshe ben Maimon, latino-gräzisiert Moses Maimonides. Schon zu Lebzeiten kam dem auf judäo-arabisch und hebräisch schreibenden Arzt, Rabbiner und Philosophen eine hohe, wenn auch nicht unumstrittene Autorität innerhalb des Judentums zu. Die arabisch abgefassten Schriften wurden schnell in die hebräische und wenig später in die lateinische Sprache übertragen und auf vielerlei Weise rezipiert.Der vorliegende Sammelband geht einigen Rezeptionsformen der Schriften des Maimonides nach und beleuchtet seine multiperspektivische Wirkungsgeschichte.In den Blick genommen sind Autoren aus allen Phasen der maimonidischen Wirkungsgeschichte, z. B. Meister Eckhart, Abraham Abulafia, Agrippa von Nettesheim, Baruch (Benedictus de) Spinoza, Isaac Newton, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, Salomon Maimon, G. W. F. Already in his lifetime the rabbi, philosopher, and medical doctor who wrote in Judaeo-Arabic and in Hebrew was an authority within Judaism, although disputed and sometimes sharply criticised. The Arabic-written works soon became translated into Hebrew and shortly after into Latin. Immediately a multidimensional reception took place.This volume highlights some forms of the reception of the Maimonidean oeuvre and gives a survey of his Wirkungsgeschichte ("importance" or "history of impact") in different perspectives.The articles focus on authors from all phases of this Wirkungsgeschichte, e. g. Meister Eckhart, Abraham Abulafia, Agrippa of Nettesheim, Barukh (Benedictus de) Spinoza, Sir Isaac Newton, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, Salomon Maimon, G. W. F.
