This study describes the origins and formation of a modern group of Sufis in Bengal within the order of the Naqshbandiyya Mujaddidiyya. The founder of the group claimed to be the Eleventh Caliph of God. It is said that he received divine revelations (ilhâm). These revelations ordered him to be the Last Renewer (mujaddid) of Islam.
