\n History of the publishing house\n <\/h2>\n\n
\n Ergon Verlag was founded in 1989 by Dr Hans-J\u00fcrgen Dietrich in W\u00fcrzburg. The first publication was the bibliophilic anthology Wieviel Garten braucht der Mensch?<\/em>, jointly edited by the humanities departments of the University of W\u00fcrzburg. The support of the R\u00fcckert-Gesellschaft e. V., which was taken over soon after, initially gave the publishing programme an orientalist and literary orientation. The publication of R\u00fcckert’s unique translation of the Koran, which was praised in the specialist press, was important for the further development of the publishing house and attracted widespread attention. This was followed by the acquisition of the Orient Institute (Max Weber Foundation) in Beirut and Istanbul and other leading research institutions for the Ergon editorial circle. Over time, the portfolio expanded to include a broad spectrum of humanities and social science subject areas. When the founder of the publishing house retired in the summer of 2018, Ergon became part of Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft and has since been continued by a dedicated team at its new location in Baden-Baden.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/article>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

Programme<\/h2>\n \n
